Sensors for Industry & Research: "Made in Regensburg"

Based on research activities commenced in the 1980s, PreSens Precision Sensing GmbH was founded in 1997 as a spin-off from the University of Regensburg. The company unites many long years of experience from numerous researchers in the fields of electrotechnology and sensor development. Already at the start of its work the company had sold microsensors to researchers in the field of the life sciences. Already within the first decade of its existence PreSens became one of the leading enterprises in the field of chemical-optic sensors for pH, CO2 and O2 measurement. Today the company is a sought-after original equipment manufacturer and supplies companies in the fields of medical and control engineering, bioprocess control, bio- and environmental research and the food and drinks industry. Today the company has 87 employees at the BioPark and offers together with its partners comprehensive services worldwide.

One of the secrets to the success of the Regensburg company is its constant advanced development of its innovative sensor products. Regarding this in 2015 alone PreSens reinvested 19% of its total turnover in research and development of the company. Now the company is presenting its new product line, which services the market for so-called "micro-profiling". PreSens microsensors with their sensor tips, thinner than a human hair, are now able to  be positioned and used in processes with µm accuracy in tissue structures, soil samples or even packaging.  For this advance microsensor technology is required with high, mechanical spatial resolution. Clients come for example from the field of environmental research to receive long-term measurements on marine sediments, biofilms and plants. Further clients are found in the medical technology industry to evaluate respiration and diffusion processes in gel and culture monitoring. Another new development are the self-adhesive, precalibrated and ready-to-use sensor points for online-pH measurements, which now make it possible to carry out measurements in almost all transparent culture vessels. The measurements are carried out externally requiring no contact and are also ideal for applications in bioreactors.

PreSens has established a comprehensive service program in the internet for its worldwide customer base. In addition to a home page in four languages in German, English, French and Spanish, meanwhile a 114 page comprehensive product catalogue can be brought up online. A lot of new product information is also summarized as a video in "PreSens TV".
