Scale-Up Concept at PAN-Biotech from the Regensburg Bioregion

PAN-Biotech GmbH from Aidenbach in the region of Passau is the most south-east company in the Regensburg Bioregion. Since 1988 the company has successfully been producing and distributing nutrient solutions and reagents for cell cultures to clients to the whole world there with 60 employees. In particular cell culture media needed for the pharma and biotech industry are manufactured at the location in certified clean room plants. For quality assurance the company undertakes a multitude of services and test processes, such as the detection of pathogens or cell processing for the work-up of a cell culture. With this comes many years of experience in this science around cell biology as well as the worldwide distribution with the respective logistics and accounting.

“We like to make our expertise with qualitative first-class products and excellent service in cell culture available to the whole world for spin-off companies in the contract manufacturing for or as partners of companies and universities”, explained CEO Pascal Zimmermann about the new scale-up concept of the company. On their own internet platform clients and partners are able to find detailed information and make direct contact in German and English. In particular for startups the concept “Scale Up by PAN Biotech” offers the opportunity to rapidly and reliably bring in expertise for the set-up of production with cell cultures in the framework of 1 – 1,000 liters per day. This can be for example the setup of antibody production for new cell therapies. The service includes the complicated steps of purchasing and qualification of raw materials, quality control, distribution logistics and marketing strategies.

In the near future there will also be an idea platform available upon which researchers and working groups around the themes of cultivation and workup of cell cultures can bring in new applications. These can then, with financial support and expertise from PAN-Biotech, be tested for their possibilities to be put into use and for their viability for the global market. This of course if wished with an agreement of confidentiality. Also in the necessary auditing of the production processes the company stands alongside the startup companies to be of help.
