RG Mechatronics develops medical robots in BioPark
With the location analyses of 2006 und 2008 the Bioregion Regensburg was expanded as a network spanning technologies in East Bavaria. Since then the BioPark as a municipal enterprise of the city of Regensburg supports the interdisciplinary potential of the life sciences and health industry on site. With RG Mechatronics moving into the BioPark a further element was completed. The company develops technologies of the future in medical technology and has set itself the goal of revolutionizing the worldwide strongly expanding market of minimally invasive surgery in the field of robotics. RG Mechatronics is a spin-off from the German Air and Space Research with headquarters in Seefeld in Munich. The external branch in Regensburg has the purpose of promoting the development of medical robotic systems for surgery, diagnostics and treatment. In the middle of last year the first prototypes were presented to an international team of experts. The system is being developed with a totally new application for the human-machine interface, for example in the operating theatre by reducing time and cost via minimally invasive interventions with the help of intelligent manipulators. The close vicinity to tertiary institutions, the technology location of Regensburg and interdisciplinary application in the BioPark were reason enough to establish an external branch on site.
