rent a scientist – Ideas on the move in the Network Nanosilber

Rent a scientist was founded in 1995 in Regensburg and employs 16 people currently. Particularly in the field of silver-based nanotechnology, rent a scientist holds a pioneering position and a leading position in research and development in Europe. Some of the exceptional chemical and physical properties of silver include its antimicrobial activity and its thermal and electrical conductive capacity. The company together with its subsidary ras materials has been one of the first to use this property in its technical coating of implants - the antimicrobial action of silver with the formation of silver ions (Ag+) on the surface of silver nano particles. The silver ions have an antiseptic effect on single cell organisms and on multiresistant bacteria. This expertise places the company in the Network Nanosilber, in which six companies and four institutions work together. In addition to technical projects (printing, textiles) medical technology applications are a focus. They also find application in filtration of clean drinking water and the development of novel sensors.
