Regensburg Delegation at the BIO in Boston
The Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) held its 25th BIO International Convention in Boston. With more than 16,000 participants from 74 countries, over 1,800 exhibitors, 500 lectures and 41,000 one-on-one partnering discussions, it is the largest trade fair of its type. BioPark Regensburg GmbH, 2bind GmbH, Assay.Works GmbH and Iris Biotech GmbH were represented at the shared Bavarian Stand at the German Pavilion. Representatives from the University of Regensburg and the City of Regensburg were also present. The Regensburg Delegation met with representatives from the partner cities of Clermont Ferrand (F) and Tempe (Az, USA) and visited the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The University of Regensburg maintains a student exchange program with MIT Germany funded financially by the BioPark. The Regensburg Delegation used the stay in Cambridge to visit the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) and the German Accelator – Life Sciences (GLAS). Dieter Daminger, Consultant for Economics, Science and Finance at the City of Regensburg and Dr. Christian Blomeyer, Chancellor at the University of Regensburg were impressed by the Biotech Startup Ecosystem in Boston. They already began on-site to discuss with CEO Dr. Thomas Diefenthal, how the Biotec Startup Ecosystem could be further developed in Regensburg.
