Productive Innovation Day Hygiene 4.0 in Regensburg

BioPark Regensburg GmbH, an enterprise of the City of Regensburg, has managed the initiative Healthcare Regensburg since 2017 to fulfill the wish of all stakeholders for a common visibility of the healthcare location. At the end of 2018 a masterplan was produced also from which recommendations for action and project suggestions for the further development of the healthcare industry at the Regensburg location and in the region took place. This location analysis which was conducted demonstrated high potential of companies and research in the region in the field of hygiene.

Healthcare Regensburg is organizing an innovation day in Regensburg for this on all the methods and processes to present on reduction of pathogen load in the clinical environment. 70 participants, 12 experts and 9 exhibitors came together on 5. March 2020 at a meeting of specialists in the Regensburg arena. “With a background of increasing and newly developing antibiotic resistance the prevention and treatment of nosocomial infections has particular relevance in the provision of healthcare”, emphasized BioPark CEO Dr. Thomas Diefenthal. In addition to early, rapid and precise diagnostics it is necessary to fully exhaust the prevention potential in the avoidance and reduction of pathogen load. “Here materials and surfaces, antiseptic coating processes of relevant hygienic surfaces as well as construction of medical products and devices easy to clean and sterilize play an essential role”, emphasized project manager Dr. Ilja Hagen.

In his keynote address Prof. Dr. Johannes Hübner from Munich gave an overview on the current state in antibiotic therapy. Prof. Dr. Wulf Schneider, director of the department for hospital hygiene and infection control reported on this current occasion about available information on corona virus SARS-CoV2 which is on the brink of a global pandemic (see picture 1).
