PreSens GmbH, in its eleventh year further on the pathway to success
PresSens was founded in 1997 as a spin off of the University of Regensburg. Through the university chair for analytical chemistry, chemo- and biosensory technology at that time, unique chemical-optic microsensors were developed. Amongst the first customers in this field of research have been hundreds of users from the University of Alaska/ Anchorage through to the University of Wellington in New Zealand. The Scientific R&D customer group was extended into three further business fields. Initiated by demand from the market leader of beverage bottling plants - Krones AG, Neutraubling/Germany the field Food & Beverage was opened. Here PreSens delivered sensors to test the impermeability of packaging and a special system to determine permeability of oxygen through PET bottles at concerns such as Nestle, Heiniken or Danisco.
Through further demand, the need for innovative measurement technology in the field of biotechnology also became evident. In the Biotech business field, pharmaceutical companies such as Roche, DSM or Genentech are improving opportunities for bioprocess development with PreSens sensory technology. Finally, as the youngest business field, with the cooperation of medical technology manufacturers in the field, Medical Devices was founded. PreSens supplies sensor components, which are integrated into complex medical systems.
PreSens is further on the pathway to success. In the last few years the always profitable company has repeatedly needed to expand its premises. Currently PreSens is researching, manufacturing and developing in an area of almost 1,000 sqm in BioPark II. The number of permanent employees has risen to 27. PreSens will continue to grow in the coming years.
