New Partners in Cooperation in BioPark Regensburg
The BioPark Regensburg GmbH will soon be celebrating several events in the New Year of 2006. On the 23rd of June the second construction phase will be inaugurated with a ceremony and on the 24th of June the 10 year anniversary of the BioRegio Regensburg will be celebrated with an open day. In this period 22 enterprises have been founded, and the Region with a total of 42 companies and 1350 employees in the field of life sciences has developed into the second largest biotechnology region in Bavaria following Munich. For the successful continued further development of the BioRegio Regensburg, the BioPark GmbH has introduced further measures for the professionalisation of the infrastructure. Furthermore in 2006 a project for the registration of applied interdisciplinary fields in the field of life sciences in the Region Regensburg/ East Bavaria will be commenced to further develop the BioRegio Regensburg. Moreover the BioPark has commenced cooperation with two professional partners in the fields of patent law and management training, which is now available free of charge to BioRegio companies.
EPPING · HERMANN · FISCHER is a nationally and internationally operating intellectual property law firm founded in 1999 in Munich and since 2004 has also been situated in Regensburg. The firm offers tailor-made service packages in matters pertaining to patents, utility models, trademarks, design protection and legal questions relating to employees' inventions. From a technological perspective it covers entire disciplines from mechanical engineering to biotechnology and falls back on vast experience in the areas of pharmaceutical, organic and inorganic chemistry and biotechnology. In an alliance with the BioPark Regensburg GmbH, EPPING HERMANN FISCHER offers interested companies in BioRegio Regensburg a consultation day each month. In this forum current queries and problems relating to patent and trademark strategies, portfolio management, product clearing, surveillance of foreign patent law, competitor analyses, invention law with inventor remuneration and patent and trademark licensing can be discussed. Combined workshops in the BioPark on questions related to patent law and legal-ethical issues are planned for 2006.
The German Technicians Health Insurance Company (TK) was founded in 1884 and is present throughout Germany with currently 3.9 million members. As a public health insurance company the TK is a public law corporation with self-government. The Board of Directors of the Federal State of Bavaria is located in Munich, the Marketing Management in Lower Bavaria/ Upper Pfalz in Regensburg. Since 1999 the TK has been operating their university office in the BioPark. This has already been used in the past as an important platform for dialogue between medical applications of gene technology, the patient and the public health insurance companies. With joint events on the topic "How much may gene technology cost from a legal perspective?" the TK has engaged itself in discussions with leaseholders early on in the piece. This collaboration is now planned to be extended with the offer of professional training for the BioPark companies in the areas of management, negotiation strategies, networking, communication, motivation and presentations in the BioPark lecture theatre. The participation is free of cost for employees of the BioRegio companies.
