New Offices at BioPark Regensburg GmbH

It is in fact still a building site, but for the opening ceremony on the 23 September of this year – one year after the laying of the foundation stone and two years after the commencement of the designs - BioPark III will be completed on schedule. Then the 3rd construction phase at BioPark Regensburg will deliver on its contract and increase the available space to 18,000 m2. Already in the run up, the offices have relocated from BioPark I to the new building. Since the end of 1999 they have been located in the first construction phase and from there, through successful development, steered and advanced to the University of Regensburg Campus and the Bioregion of Regensburg.

BioPark I commenced operations with an initial 6,000 m2 at the end of 2001, followed by similarly constructed BioPark II with a further 6,000 m2 at the end of 2006. With BioPark III the company has increased its original space threefold. The facility management has also grown with operating and administrative expenses. With space of 330 m2 the 9 member team of full and part-time employees led by managing director Dr. Thomas Diefenthal will be able to receive its guests and customers in the future. The new offices are set up for further growth to be able to fulfil the current trend in development.

In the run-up already 60% of the area in BioPark III has been firmly booked. In the new building the infrastructure will be further improved. A child care facility, two conference rooms and the atrium as a venue will complement the existing lecture hall. Further service providers in the fields of patent systems, finance and consulting will complement the existing service providers of some of the leaseholders. Including the new building, all three buildings are connected to a new state of the art 1,000 Mbit/s fibre optic network. 

The official celebration invitation is to take place on Friday 23 September followed by an Open Day on Saturday 24 September. With a comprehensive supporting programme the BioPark together with its leaseholders will present everything on the topics of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medicine and diagnostics. Details on this will be announced at the beginning of August.
