New Innovation from Thermo Fisher Scientific Geneart from Regensburg
The company GeneArt was founded from the University of Regensburg and was one of the first companies in the year 2000 to move into BioPark Regensburg, a technology and startup center of the City of Regensburg. This was followed by a comet-like rise with numerous prizes as leading developer and manufacturer of synthetic genes for the biotech and pharma industry. On the stock exchange in 2006 and further premises moved into in the Regensburg Industry Park, with takeover of the company in 2014 by the US company Thermo Fisher Scientific, global expansion of the technology on the international market was achieved. Thermo Fisher is today worldwide the largest supplier of scientific applications with currently 80,000 employees and a turnover of 25 billion $ US. Furthermore the location of Regensburg with 300 highly qualified employees is also a leading specialist and pioneer in high demand in synthetic biology for the company. “This new discipline in the modern life sciences uses the constructive principles of engineering science to develop new synthetic pathways based on biology or to reprogram immune cells in a way that they are able to recognize and destroy individual patient cancer cells in a specific and tailor-made manner. We here in Regensburg offer the necessary DNA building blocks for this – affordable, free of errors and fast,” explains the location director and cofounder Dr. Marcus Graf.
Right at the time of the BioPark anniversary Thermo Fisher Scientific Geneart GmbH had developed a new process with the so-called “GeneArt High-Q Strings Technology” which makes ready for cloning, synthetic genes within reach of every laboratory. Regardless of whether a single gene is being tested or larger fragments are being combined, the process with Invitrogen GeneArt DNA fragments offers the newest technology to fulfill all of today’s demands for gene fragments for use in research and industry. This includes both the comfort of a modern online ordering system as well as the so-called “Invitrogen GeneOptimizer Technology” for stable and increased protein expression, e.g. in the manufacturing of pharmaceutical products. GeneArt High-Q Strings DNA fragments are revolutionary, user-defined DNA fragments which were developed to achieve unparalleled precise and quality sequencing in the industry. The innovative microchip technology platform from Thermo Fisher Scientific and the high standard of precision which have been determined by Next Gen Sequencing quality control lead to a very low rate of error.
