kompetenznetze.de adds BioPark Regensburg GmbH

According to a press release from the bmbf, kompetenznetze.de has welcomed seven new members to its "Best and Brightest Club". After an intense competition, seven competence networks from the fields of i.e. environmental technology, material research, microsystem technology and biotechnology were selected. Dr. Thomas Diefenthal, Director of BioPark Regensburg GmbH maintains, "BioPark Regensburg is the second biotechnological competence network from Bavaria to be given this honor. This emphasizes the significance of the region, which is in second place behind BioM AG, for the state capitol." The selected companies provide the impetus for viewing Germany internationally as an innovative site. The bmbf believes the companies demonstrate this through their strong sense of innovation, their thematic focus, and their network management capabilities. The new member companies will also increase the attractiveness of the kompetenznetze.de whose international presence and international cooperation has expanded dramatically in the last few months. The website makes it possible for the regions to present themselves in German, English and French.

The online information service from kompetenznetze.de to the competence networks was used by 66,000 thousand people in January alone. At least half of the visitors were from English or French speaking countries. According to estimations made by the business department at kompetenznetze.de, the networks continue to develop into "Netknots". Cross-border cooperations with the Baltic States, Scandinavia, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, the Czech Republic and Austria, prove this point. kompetenznetze.de supports this globalization process and continues to work on building up new international contacts. Regensburg can be seen as a door to the East but also adds valuable connections as site for international companies, like Amgen and Toshiba.

There are a total of 118 chosen networks from 21 fields of innovation and 33 regional partners involved in this initiative. Like all of the other member networks, BioPark GmbH can now use the reputation of kompetenznetze.de for its own public work, for building up contacts and for the acquisition of new projects. kompetenznetze.de offers a number of support opportunities, for example at trade shows, at regional and thematic events, with the organization of experience exchange between networks and with international trips and cooperation markets. An annual report is released in English, in it the regions and competence networks have the opportunity to present themselves. Finally, the addition of BioPark will increase the marketing of the region as an investment site and do a great service for BioRegio companies as well as for Regensburg and the state of Bavaria.
