10 Years of manufacturing of medicines in Regensburg
Haupt Pharma Amareg put down roots in 1874. At that time the company was founded under the German name “Salizylsäurefabrik Dr. Friedrich von Heyden”, which settled in Regensburg in the 50s. Following take over by Squibb in 1969 and the merger in 1989 to Bristol-Meyers Squibb, the company Amareg arose on the company grounds in Regensburg. (Amareg = medicines from Regensburg). In 2008 the company merged with Haupt Pharma AG and since then has been a 100% subsidiary of the Haupt Pharma Concern. At the location the company produces and packages above all special products in the field of therapeutic agents to treat cancer and immunosuppressants for over 70 national and international clients. Further areas of expertise lie in the manufacture of hormone preparations. Conventional products such as creams and tablets are produced in Regensburg. Furthermore the company supports contractors in the development of pharmaceutical formulations.
The company has demonstrated an increase in turnover from 11 million to 35.1 million Euro. The number of employees increased threefold between 2003 and 2013 from 117 to 333. Since 2003 a total of 8 chemistry laboratory trainees, 13 industrial sales managers and 36 pharmaceutical technicians have completed their training here. With nine production locations in Germany, Italy, France and Japan and a plant in the USA, Haupt Pharma is one of the largest European companies for pharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing. The concern expects a turnover of ca. 295 million € for the year 2013. Worldwide Haupt Pharma employs 2,000 employees.
