Swiss HeiQ Group takes over RAS AG from Regensburg

The company RAS AG was founded in 2016 and is based in the east of the city with 26 employees. It emerged from two successful companies in the BioRegion Regensburg, Rent A Scientist GmbH, which was founded in 1995, and RAS Materials GmbH, which was founded in 2010. RAS AG is a successful service provider in the field of applied contract research and development and has developed a successful product with "RAS Antimicrobial Technology" in infection prophylaxis, e.g. silver coating on osteosynthesis implants. RAS products and additives can be found today in a wide range of applications in addition to medical technology in the textile industry, in paints and varnishes and in agriculture. The AGPURE product also leads to a very strong reduction in coronaviruses on treated surfaces. The company’s expertise and experience is available in the "RAS Innovation Center". Partners including the BioPark and customers can use the RAS network and drive their innovation projects forward.

The Regensburg-based company for innovative materials has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of HeiQ Materials AG since April 28, 2021 and will be renamed HeiQ RAS AG. HeiQ Materials AG is a company based in Schlieren, Switzerland, and was spun off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) in 2005. The company went public in London in 2020 (LSE: HEIQ) and is now a pioneer in the global market for antimicrobial substances (market size:10 billion US $) and textile chemicals (market size: 24 billion US $). RAS AG is a pioneer in silver-based technologies for antimicrobial and transparent conductive coating applications. With these hygiene-promoting additives and long-lasting coating systems, RAS AG complements the existing range of hygiene solutions from HeiQ.

According to a press release from the London Stock Exchange, the takeover was carried out at a price of 5.1 million Euro. 1.25 million Euro will be paid in cash and 3.85 million Euro through the issue of new shares by HeiQ Plc (UK). "The acquisition of RAS AG expands our technology portfolio and innovation capabilities and enables us to dig deeper into markets such as permanent surface protection, antimicrobial agents, conductive transparent materials, infrared reflective coatings, controlled release technologies and R&D innovation services," said Carlo Centonze, co-founder and CEO of HeiQ, quoted in the London Stock Exchange announcement. "We are proud to be part of the HeiQ Group, the whole team is looking forward to fruitful cooperation. The Regensburg location, with its management team and all contact persons, will remain with our customers and network partners," added the RAS AG Board of Directors with Dr. Oliver Zech, Gregor Schneider, Dr. Robert Nusko and Dr. Georg Maier to this announcement.
