Healthcare Accelerator at BioPark Regensburg has started

BioPark Regensburg GmbH, an enterprise of the City of Regensburg, presented a masterplan on healthcare at the end of 2017. The masterplan denotes opportunities, potentials and recommendations for action for Regensburg and the Region in this field. A specialty topic was the promotion of innovation and startups in regional healthcare. With the startup of Digital Health Initiative Regensburg at the beginning of 2018, the interdisciplinary linkage between IT and health was initiated. To promote the startup of innovative companies in healthcare the BioPark has brought the “Healthcare Accelerator - BioPark Jump” to life.

The “regensburg:re kollektiv”, winner of the BioPark-Challenge at the last Regensburg Hackathon “Hackaburg 2018”, has been brought on board as the first team. They thereby receive the opportunity to make their app idea ready to be placed on the     market. The goal of their development is  to make available to trauma surgeons the connection of the Injury Severity Score (ISS), an anatomical injury table grading the severity of an injury, together with the medical guidelines, digitally on a smartphone or tablet. The project is being supported by the German Society for Trauma Surgery as well as the AUC - Academy of Trauma Surgery and is to be presented in October on the DKOU2019 to the German Congress for Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery in Berlin.

"With BioPark Jump future creative  applications and ideas will not go lost in the region”, Dr. Ilja Hagen Project Manager for Healthcare is happy to say. “Following biotechnology and medical technology we also now have created an incubator for innovative ideas in healthcare at the location”, commented BioPark CEO Dr. Thomas Diefenthal on the opening of the first BioPark Jump office.
