German BioRegions select Spokespersons Committee
The Council of German BioRegions (abbreviated as AK BioRegio) is the merger of the German Biotech-Clusters. It was founded in 2004 and has had its office in BIO Deutschland in Berlin since 2009. Thirty members have merged in this body to optimize and coordinate their regional activities in the interest of German technology. Alongside the classic themes such as finance, start-up, and continuing education, AK BioRegio deals with technology transfer and in the course of public relations, the external representation of German technology.
AK BioRegio elected the new Spokespersons Committee for the coming two years at its last meeting in Leipzig. The managing director of STERN management GmbH, Dr. Klaus Eichenberg, was reelected as a spokesperson. Dr. Thomas Diefenthal of BioPark Regensburg GmbH was confirmed is his office as acting spokesperson. New to the team as acting spokesperson is Dr. Heinrich Cuypers, senior project manager of BioCon Valley GmbH from Greifswald. Dr. Kai Uwe Bindseil, director of the Action Centre BioTOP Berlin-Brandenburg, did not stand for election. The AK BioRegio is a merger of the German Bioregions to promote biotechnology across regions. Following the successful German Technology Days that took place this year in Stuttgart, AK BioRegio is now looking forward with excitement to Hamburg. The next Biotechnology Days are to take place there from the 9th to 10th April 2014.
In the framework of the countrywide series of events Biotech>inside the BioRegions are also inviting representatives from politics and medicine, to demonstrate the importance of biotechnology for many industries. With the competition: Innovation Prize for the German BioRegions, AK BioRegio promotes the transfer of knowledge, new technology and inventions from the field of research with this enterprising assessment. This year BioPark Regensburg was the organizer of this event.
