Geneart wins the Bavarian Founder's Prize
In a Start-up competition, throughout Germany, among founders of new businesses who exhibit innovative ideas and well-founded business plans, the Bavarian Founder's prize has been awarded since 1997. Partners in this initiative are the magazine "Stern", the Sparkassen, McKinsey & Company as well as the ZDF. The main area of business at the newly awarded Geneart, founded in 1999, is the production of synthetic genes on the basis of the self-developed technological platform. The genes are used for the development of vaccinations, in molecular and combinative biology. Since coming on the market in 2000, Geneart managed to quickly take a leading position in the international gene-synthesis market and is profitable in its main area of production. The international clients (49% from North America, 44% from Europe and 7% from Asia and South Africa) include institutions and universities as well as biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Together with last year's winner Neuroprofile, GmbH, Geneart is the second Biotech firm in Regensburg to be award this prize.
