GENEART is offering BTA training in the BioPark for the first time
The attitude of qualified personnel is one of the most important growth factors of successful firms. As the personnel market is subjected to the usual fluctuations and competition, and in many ways the classical training of laboratory technicians does not always match up with the everyday demands of the company, large companies – such as the pharmaceutical company Roche in Penzberg – have been training laboratory technicians themselves for a longer period now. This step has now also been achieved by the largest biotech company in BioPark Regensburg, Geneart AG.
The first “apprentices” started in September in the company and will be trained in the next three and a half years as laboratory technicians. In the first year the practical training in the laboratory of the company is complimented with one and a half days at a vocational school, from the second year with block teaching in Munich. The teaching comprises amongst other subjects chemistry, microbiology, pharmacology and botany. Through close integration in the company the trainees are given comprehensive specialised know-how and deep insights into practice. The prospective laboratory technicians run through entire departments in the fields of production and research & development and learn through this numerous methods in molecular biology, biochemistry and biotechnology. Furthermore there is also teaching on skills regarding quality control measures in business, in the application of communication and information systems and in the maintenance of strict work and environmental protection precautions in the laboratory.
