Entelechon and Peqlab Join Forces
The company grew out of the University of Regensburg in 1999 and produces synthetic genes for research and pharmaceutical companies. The name “Entelechon” comes from the Greek En and Telos, which used together mean “to carry the goal or end result within yourself” Entelechy was a philosophical concept used by the ancient Greek philosophers. It describes the fascinating ability of seeds and fertilized eggs to carry the exact construction plans of an organism. It has only been possible in the last 50 years to actually explain the foundations of entelechy; the genes, that form the genome map of an organism, designate its form, body type and physiology.
In the future, Entelechon GmbH will be enriching Peqlab Biotechnologie GmbH in Erlangen with the addition of its portfolio of synthetic genes. The company offers an extensive range for laboratory operations. The product emphasis has been placed on gene amplification (PCR), gene isolation, (DNA,RNA), electrophoresis, electroporation (also lipofection) as well as diverse markers and laboratory equipment. Entelechon is now responsible for the gene-synthesis and genomic service area of Peqlab. Peqlab, which was founded in 1996, employs a staff of 20 and also works in cooperation with November AG in Erlangen.
