Current Financial Report 2012 for BioRegio Regensburg

The number of biotechnology companies (core biotech definition according to CapGemini Consulting) has risen slightly in the latest trends from 26 to 28 companies in comparison to the previous year. The number of biotech employees rose from 882 to 912 (+ 3.3%). The total number of life science companies thereby rose from 45 companies in the previous year to 47 (+2). The total number of employees on the target date of 31.12.2012 was 3,152, significantly greater than the previous year with 2,956 employees (+8.2%). This pleasing development was demonstrated by Dr. Thomas Diefenthal at the presentation of the new business report on the development of the cluster BioRegio Regensburg.
In the financial year of 2012 the business headquarters registered a total of two additional companies, one in the field of biotechnology (Curadis GmbH) and one in the field of medical technology (Ozics GmbH). Most companies increased their personnel in the course of the financial year. In doing so on the whole the number of employees rose, despite hard cuts in personnel in individual companies in the throws of consolidation (Antisense Pharma). In the BioPark itself there are currently 35 leaseholders with 553 employees on site. The leasehold capacity is currently at over 90%. In addition to the life sciences, service providers (patent attorneys, taxation and personnel consultants, consultants for clinical studies, practices and team coaching and a crèche, and university and external university institutions enrich the centre.
