4 Years of Day Care Center bamBIOni at BioPark Regensburg
The third construction phase was needed before a long held wish of managing director Dr. Thomas Diefenthal could be fulfilled. In 2011 the new day care center was inaugurated officially in the newly constructed building BioPark III by the present Lord Mayor Joachim Wolbergs. “Particularly in the very rapidly developing life sciences it is important to promote the combination of job and family to retain qualified skilled employees at the BioPark and keep this location attractive in the future competition for the best minds”, commented Dr. Diefenthal on this important expansion. Daycare is a blessing for many mothers and fathers working at the BioPark.
"With an in-house daycare BamBIOni, I was able to quickly return to part-time work at my job – my child is looked after competently and caringly only next door. The direct proximity gives me valuable time and a good feeling as a mother", commented a mother employed at Lophius Biosciences GmbH in middle management at BioPark III. "Because my child is so well looked after in bamBIOni, I have been able to return to work at my company after maternity leave, and the closeness lets me use my work time well. The spatial proximity gives me a good feeling about emergencies – that I can be on-site quickly, so this contributes to effective work", explained Mrs. Kliche. She works as a scientist in the research and development department for the company Geneart/Thermo Fisher Scientific in BioPark II.
The best possible advancement of the children is one of the main tasks of “bamBIOni”. This includes speech and cognitive advancement, creativity and encounters with nature. The crèche is TÜV certified, as are all St John’s Associations. It is open all year round except for weekends and public holidays from 7am to 5pm. The crèche offers space for two groups of twelve children. The St John’s Regional Board Member Martin Steinkirchner is convinced by the in-house childcare concept in companies. “Without support of the company this cannot work”, he can report from his own experience. BioPark Regensburg GmbH promotes the bamBIOni daycare center though the subsidy of leases and through companies at the BioPark being regular sponsors allowing upgrading of the outdoor facilities and acquisition of furniture or toys at Christmas for example.
St John’s currently run more than 70 children’s facilities in East Bavaria, of these 24 crèches, 11 kindergartens and 9 nurseries, and youth social work at schools, public and affiliated all-day schools, midday supervision and individual supervision in the framework of inclusion.
