Amgen Research on track for success with new management
After 12 years in Regensburg, the managing director Dr. Ulrike Schindler is making the change as head of Amgen protein production to relocate to the main plant in Thousand Oaks in California. Following her university studies Dr Schindler started her career in California at the company Tularik Inc founded in 1991. As managing director of Tularik Deutschland GmbH she settled the first US company at BioPark Regensburg in 2000, which in 2004 was taken over by Amgen Inc. - one of the biotech pioneers. As managing director of Amgen Research GmbH, the first research department in the company in Europe, the company expanded in 2006 into BioPark II and every year evaluates millions of substances using high throughput screening to discover low molecular medications. The new managing director Dr. Ralf Schwandner, who has been a team member since Tularik times and most recently project director on-site, wants to drive forward further expansion in the Regensburg location. New rental space for further expansion has already been leased.
