Lophius Biosciences further on the course to success
The Biotech Company Lophius Biosciences located in BioPark Regensburg has just come to the end of a successful business year. Following a second successful round of financing of over 1.6 million €, a further basic patent was granted in the USA. The company is planning to move in 2011 into the third section of the building currently under construction to increase its space and number of employees.

A good result was attested to by the anonymous survey conducted by Kompetenznetze Deutschland of the companies at BioRegio Regensburg. It demonstrated that 85 % of the companies were satisfied or very satisfied with the cluster work at BioPark Regensburg GmbH. Most companies claimed a positive prognosis for their business development for the future with respect to turnover and employees.

One year following the laying of the foundation stone, the completion of the shell of the building was celebrated at a topping-out ceremony on the 22 September 2010 for the third construction phase of BioPark Regensburg. One year prior to opening, already 50% of the space has been leased. Following operational commencement planned for September 2011, the Technology Centre will have over a total of 18,000 m2 available with state of the art laboratory facilities directly on the Uni-Campus in Regensburg.

For two days school pupils from the Regensburg grammar schools took a sniff of real laboratory air in the laboratories at Amgen Research in a comprehensive programme with experiments.
