New School for Bio-tech Assistants
A new specialized school for the training of biotechnology assistants (BTA) has opened in Straubing, located on the Danube River 37 km south east of Regensburg. The first class of 20 students began last September, which will enrich the employment market with highly qualified laboratory assistants in two years.

BioPark Becomes Part of Strategic Partnership in Brazil
The region Belo Horizonte, in the Brazilian State of Minas Gerais, has become one of the largest biotechnology-clusters in the country. The management of the local BioRegio organization “Fundação Biominas” has signed an agreement with the Bavarian region, i.e. BioPark GmbH.

Center for Medical Biotechnology Opens at BioPark
The final cornerstone at BioPark, the Center for Medical Biotechnology has opened. At the new center, researchers can combine their know-how in the field of tissue engineering with regeneration medicine. Seven workgroups, from various research disciplines at the university, clinic and from the region, share a 500 sqm facility.
