Startup Weekend 2015
In 54 hours to an business model. This was the aim of 50 founding interested people from the region, which come together in the BioPark at the last weekend of november. Seven founding teams comprimising of designer, developer, software developer and business- and marketing-experts worked out a „Minimum Viable Product“. To realize this in the short time they were supported by competent mentors.
The team „Senseasion“ convinced the jury. Users of this app are mainly hairdressers, which have the possibility to present themself and acquire customers through an own profile or through the integration of social networks. Then the clients also have the possibility to create their own profile and to get suitable proposals for hairdressers. The second place went to the team SmartHome. This group spend time on the question, what kind of new invention could enable old people to live longer in their own home. The idea of the third place deals with the topic of safety: The app „helbee“ allows to send an emergency call in a dangerous situation within a few seconds. Through a sensor, a precise location of the transmitter and inducement of immediate aid is possible.
Startup Weekend e.V comes from america and supports people with founding ambitions by the realization of their ideas through a worldwide network. More than 1.500 events with 123.000 participates in more than 700 cities in 100 countries were already initiate by the Startup Weekend. Thanks to the organizers from Regensburg, the technology- and innovation centers BioPark and R-Tech/TechBase, the law firm KEYTERSBERG, the Ostbayrische Technische Hochschule and the business development of the city Regensburg, it was possible to bring the successful concept into the town. Many sponsors, above all Continental (platinum sponsor), R.KOM, Sparkasse Regensburg, V.O Patents & Trademarks and the city of Regensburg (silver sponsor), as well as Bayern Kapital und S-REFIT (bronze sponsor) and the media partner Mittelbayrische Zeitung, supported the event additionally.
After some words of thanks from the mayor of Regensburg Joachim Wolberg, some participants shortly presented their business idea. Afterwards the participants worked in small groups till Sunday evening on the implementation of their idea. Thereby they got important tipps to topics like start-up promotion, financing, legal issues and marketing from 17 mentors, which mainly come from the region. On the end of the event the elaborated ideas were presented to judges.
„The team comb took advantage of the weekend in the best way“, explains Alexander Rupprecht the decision of the judges. „They showed an great, refreshing presentation, worked as a good team with a really good distribution of tasks and made the best progress with their business model.“
