Ceremony - 25 Years of BioPark Regensburg
The highlight of the 25th anniversary was a ceremony with 150 invited guests and many celebrities in the atrium of BioPark III on July 19, 2024. In glorious summer weather, the technology and start-up center celebrated its success story, which can boast impressive figures.

Staying active and fit is equally important for students and employees of the universities as well as the companies and institutions at the BioPark. In a joint project, the BioPark and the University of Regensburg have brought the Campus Trail to life with the health insurance Techniker Krankenkasse. You can run, power walk or go for a walk on the signposted 4.5 km long fitness trail.

In 54 hours to an business model. This was the aim of 50 founding interested people from the region, which come together in the BioPark at the last weekend of november. Seven founding teams comprimising of designer, developer, software developer and business- and marketing-experts worked out a „Minimum Viable Product“. To realize this in the short time they were supported by competent mentors.

For the occasion of the series of events "Economy Talks in the Region. Forming Bavaria’s Future" Bavarian State Minister Ilse Aigner invited 150 guests from the region to a dialogue at BioPark Regensburg. To begin with she visited the company Lophius Biosciences in-house.

On 26th April 2013, the third Science Night was organized in Regensburg. The BioPark Regensburg also took part to present itself as an innovative center of biotechnology. It opened its doors to the interested public.

The BioPark in Regensburg celebrated its 15 years company jubilee with an open day. Over an area of 18,000 m2, approx. 2.250 guests visited the BioPark including many families. With a diverse programme those young and old were able to gain information about biotechnology. In addition to exciting laboratory tours and information stands, homemade ice-cream, health checks, films and the BIO Technikum-Truck enticed visitors in. High points were a scavenger hunt through all three buildings and a raffle of pictures made by the kids of the BioPark-KITA.

BioRegio Regensburg is growing and thriving. With the foundation of BioPark Regensburg GmbH fifteen years ago, the success story for the biotechnology field in the region of East Bavaria was initially ignited. The region consisted of 23 companies with 400 employees in 1999, today there are around 48 enterprises employing 3.369 people – a good eight times more than fifteen years ago. It has developed into the second largest competency network following Munich in the state.

On 26th April 2013, the second Science Night (after 2012) was organized in Regensburg. The BioPark Regensburg also took part to present itself as an innovative center of biotechnology. It opened its doors to the interested public.

In fall 2012, the day care center "bamBIOni" in the BioPark had a pleasant reason to celebrate: In October the new outdoor area was newly arranged and thereafter officially inaugurated. We thank the many donors, tenants and business partners alike, as well as the highly dedicated parents.

The BioPark in Regensburg celebrated the opening of its third construction phase with an open day. Over an area of 18,000 m2 2.500 visitors had the chance to discover the secrets of biotechnology and to experience insight into the fascinating world of research and development of one of the key technologies of the 21st century.

In September 2011 the new third building construction phase was inaugurated. We have also used the extension to accommodate the demands for growth of the business, which has been contained in the first building for more than 12 years now. The new premises are located next to a new conference area directly at the entrance of BioPark III.

The third construction phase of the BioPark in Regensburg has been officially opened. There are now a total of 18,000 m2 available with high quality laboratory space for companies and founders in the fields of biotechnology, medical technology, pharmaceuticals and interdisciplinary industries directly on the grounds of the University of Regensburg.

The childcare facility “bamBIOni” was officially inaugurated at BioPark Regensburg. It is the 40th Johanniter children’s education institution in the Regional Association of Upper Palatinate and an important extension of the infrastructure in the three BioPark buildings, paving the way to improve conditions to pursue a career and bring up a family.

The BMBF Initiative BIOTechnikum offered a hands-on science experience from the 16-18 June 2010. "Exploring Life – Shaping the Future". The Regensburg people had the opportunity to visit the exceptional truck with most modern equipment in the middle of the old town quarter.

Selected Location 2008
BioPark Regensburg GmbH is “Selected Location in the Land of Ideas” and thereby part of the row of events “365 Locations in the Land of Ideas 2008”. BioPark was successful in the competition and shows that the future is being made in Regensburg.

With a celebration on 23rd June 2006 the 2nd Construction Phase of BioPark Regensburg GmbH was inaugurated with State Premier Dr. Edmund Stoiber and 250 invited guests. On the following Open Day 2,500 visitors viewed both buildings and were able to form an impression through lectures, film presentations and laboratory tours.

In 17th Century the first crash was happened named Tulipmania at the stock exchange in Holland. The Artist Herbert Stolz and Jürgen Huber created two monumental pictures to this historic and actual topic in our first exhibition of Innovative Biotechnology and Art.

The booming development of biotechnology in Regensburg, which began only five years ago with the launch of the BioRegio Regensburg project, reached another climax with the opening ceremonies on the Bio Park premises on 25/26 May 2001. Within two years only the 1999-founded BioPark Regensburg GmbH turned the former "Haus der Stiftung", also set up in 1999, on the grounds of the University of Regensburg into a state-of-the-art centre for biotechnology in Bavaria.
